MEET MADELEINE TAPP

Madeleine is a contemporary British landscape painter based on the Essex/Suffolk border who captures open landscapes and waterscapes in oils.

Her work explores light, atmosphere and the restorative benefits of nature, drawing a direct connection between the calming natural environment and mindfulness. Rooted in the concept of biophilia – our innate connection to the natural world – her paintings serve as a quiet antidote to a busy, indoor life.

Madeleine begins her work outdoors using traditional en plein air techniques on small boards. She then translates these real-world impressions into expansive, large-scale oil canvases back in her studio.

Madeleine is a member of the Dedham Arts Society and a couple of plein air groups in Suffolk. She is also a member of Art for Cure, who holds large scale exhibitions in Suffolk, sales support their charity, research into breast cancer. 

A former secondary and sixth-form art teacher, Madeleine now focuses on her painting practice and works part time for a local school. She runs workshops and courses from her garden studio on the Essex/Suffolk Coast and supports Art students with their GCSE or A-Level coursework and Scholarship programmes.
