Giant Woven Willow Star Workshop
This Christmas, join the Coddiwomplers for a festive and fun willow-weaving workshop at Blackthorpe Barn, where you’ll learn some of the basic skills and techniques of willow weaving, taught by two experienced basket makers, while creating a beautiful Christmas decoration for your home.
In this workshop, you’ll create a 1metre-wide willow star using the ‘wild weave’ technique. The finished star will make a stunning feature on your wall or hanging outside and you can even add lights for some extra festive sparkle.
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, with no previous experience necessary. However, as willow weaving is a hands-on craft, a reasonable level of hand strength and manual dexterity is required.
Whether you’ve always wanted to try willow weaving or simply fancy a creative festive escape, this relaxed and friendly workshop is the perfect way to spend a few hours in the run-up to Christmas.
What Will I do?
- Learn some basic skills and techniques of willow weaving
- Create a giant 1 meter wide star for either indoors or outdoors
Who is this workshop suitable for?
- People aged 16 and over
- Beginners; no experience necessary
- Some manual dexterity and strength is required for weaving the willow
Your tutors are Stuart Fidler and Emma Booth, who together are the Coddiwomplers and who will teach you willow weaving in a fun and relaxed workshop.

Not one, not two, but three!
On Thursday evening, Simon and Matt from our farming team collected three awards at the 2026 Suffolk Farm Business Competition at the Suffolk Agricultural Association Awards.
We were delighted to receive:
Third prize for Roots Café in Class 1: Best Farm Shop and Café.
Third prize for Rougham Estate Farms in Class 5: Farms of 50 hectares and over.
The Special Award for Best Farm Diversification, recognising the wider business at Rougham Estate.
These awards recognise the breadth of what we do here at Rougham against some very tough competition in the county - from our farming operations to the visitor experiences and businesses that sit alongside them.
We were also thrilled to see Rougham Primary School win the Schools Show Garden Competition who we proudly support by providing essential supplies, including compost, tools and wheelbarrows, helping pupils get hands-on with gardening and learn more about the natural world.
All in all, a very proud night and a fantastic team who deserve the recognition 🙌
