About Our Small Group Events
Come and discover something new, perhaps for pure pleasure or to satisfy your creative aspirations. The in-person small group events at Rougham Estate make learning a new skill or furthering your expertise, a real pleasure.
At Rougham Estate, our workshops have grown beyond the walls of the studio and alongside the creative craft sessions that have always been at the heart of what we do, you’ll find a wider range of skills to learn and fascinating talks to engage with. With hands-on making sessions, outdoor experiences, talks and demonstrations, we invite you to slow down, learn something new and meet like-minded people while enjoying this beautiful Suffolk countryside setting.
All of our events are led by carefully-selected skilled professionals, who are both experts in their field and friendly and careful in their teaching style.
Specific details of the individual workshops currently on offer can be found in the links below. Each event page will explain who the event aimed at, what you will do, what you need to bring with you, if anything, who the tutor is and where the workshop is being held.
We are always adding workshops, so come back to this page again to see what’s new. Any problems with booking or other queries please contact us.

Details about our workshops
Many of the small group events at Rougham Estate take place in the Meadow Room at Blackthorpe Barn, a short walk from Roots Café (see the Ground Plan), but others are held in the café itself, or outdoors, sometimes under canvas, or in the nearby meadow. The location is chosen to match the event itself.
Some of these workshops are just for an hour or two and some take the whole day. Most events include all the materials needed, but some may ask you to bring some items with you. Some sessions are hands-on tutoring whereas others will be more like an interactive talk.
There is plenty of free parking at each event location, and specifically at for the Meadow Room at Blackthorpe Barn, there are overflow car parks. In general the car parks close when the café closes, but if your event goes beyond the café closing time, the car parks will only close when your event finishes.
Tea, coffee and some sweet treats are provided during workshops at the Meadow Room, or other refreshments at other locations. If you are staying over lunch, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you or choose from the light-lunch offering from the Roots Café on-site. If a lunch is included in your workshop, this will be clarified in the details.
Refunds and Cancellations
If you need to cancel a workshop
If you are unable to attend your booked workshop and notify us at least 7 full days in advance of the workshop date, we can offer a refund or a transfer to the same workshop on an alternative date, providing there are places available or a course is planned for the future.
If cancellation is within 7 full days of your workshop unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. We do appreciate that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may mean that you can’t attend so we are happy for you to send along a friend to take your place. We will need their name and contact details prior to the workshop.
Our right to cancel a workshop
All our workshops have a minimum attendance level and may be cancelled if too few bookings are received. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone workshops at any time. Should we need to cancel a workshop, we will give you as much notice as possible of the cancellation. You will receive a full refund or, if you prefer, a transfer to an alternative available course, space permitting. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any liability for travel or other costs.
