An Exploration of Dreams and Dreaming
Are you intrigued by your dreams and wonder if, perhaps, they could be significant and meaningful? This interactive talk could open a door for you to a greater understanding of just how important dreams can be to our general well-being.
Gilly Crow has spent over 35 years as a psychotherapist in the Suffolk countryside and for much of that time dreams have been at the heart of her work. Now, with the publication of her first book, Wake Up to Your Dreams: An Exploration of Dreams and Dreaming, she is sharing what she has learned.
Gilly draws on her own remarkable journey into the world of dreams, from her very first client, whose nightly dreams held the key to decades of unspoken trauma, to the dream groups she has run for over fifteen years at her beautiful Suffolk location.
Her approach is warm, accessible and grounded in real experience. She doesn’t talk about interpreting dreams but rather about exploring them. There is an important difference; a dream doesn’t have to yield a neat meaning to be profoundly meaningful. Sometimes, she says, just listening to a dream is enough.
Whether you are haunted by recurring dreams, curious about what your unconscious might be trying to tell you or simply drawn to the idea that there is more going on while you sleep than you realise, this is an event not to be missed.

If you are unable to attend this event and notify us at least 7 full days in advance of the event date, we can offer a refund or a transfer to the same event on an alternative date, providing there are places available or a course is planned for the future.
If cancellation is within 7 full days of this event unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. We do appreciate that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may mean that you can’t attend so we are happy for you to send along a friend to take your place. We will need their name and contact details prior to the workshop.

All our events have a minimum attendance level and may be cancelled if too few bookings are received. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone events at any time. Should we need to cancel an event, we will give you as much notice as possible of the cancellation. Accessible parking is available near the entrance to the Café/Shop area.
Please Note: The car park closes when the Roots Café closes and the entrance gates are locked after this time.
Blackthorpe Barn is situated just south of Junction 45 of the A14, three miles east of Bury St Edmunds, in the village of Rougham.
Look out for the entrance gates to a long tree-lined avenue at the White House junction, with the Barn on the right of the avenue. Please keep to the 20mph speed limit here.
The Meadow Room can be found behind the old thatched Barn and behind Roots Café.

ArtWorks @artworkseast is entering its second weekend, and then there’s just one more week to visit.

Throwback Thursday to the beginning of one of the biggest projects we’ve undertaken at Blackthorpe Barn.
Back in February, the scaffolding and hoarding started going up as we began the full rethatching of this incredible 16th-century building.
It was quite a sight to see the work get underway, with around 12 highly skilled thatchers spending around 40 days carefully renewing the roof using traditional techniques.
Blackthorpe Barn has been part of Rougham Estate for more than 500 years and remains a real icon of the Estate. Today, it continues to be at the heart of what we do, currently hosting the Artworks East exhibition and in November, transforming into one of our biggest Christmas events, with our much loved Christmas Shop and Arts & Crafts Fair.
So while the thatching may be a traditional craft, the Barn certainly has plenty of life left in it now.

The recent rain has certainly been welcomed by the cattle on the Estate!
After a long, dry summer, the grass is getting a much needed boost and is starting to green up again, giving the cattle plenty to enjoy.
It’s always good to see the Estate responding to a change in the weather and nature getting back to doing what it does best.

Rougham Pumpkins opens again in 3 weeks! Yes, it’s that time again. 🎃🎉
The pumpkins are already looking great and the gates will be swinging open on Saturday 3rd Oct.
Save the date to come and wander amongst 100,000s of pumpkins, squashes and gourds in over 15 varieties.

Now in its 26th year, this much-loved exhibition brings together 28 established artists from across East Anglia
for a two-week show of beautiful contemporary art in one of Suffolk’s most special settings.
Over 300 artworks are on display
from abstract paintings and botanical illustrations to ceramics, sculpture and mixed media.
There is such a wide variety of work, everyone will find something to enchant them
and everything is available to buy.
The Private View on Friday evening was well attended
and from now on, every day, there is at least one artist demonstrating their work in the Barn.
At the weekends there are two artists working here each day,
so come along and “Meet the Artist”!
The exhibition is open for just over 2 weeks, until Sunday 27th September
and it’s free to enter, with free parking too.

We’re looking for a Café Supervisor to join our small, passionate team at Rougham Estate.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys hospitality, loves working with people and can keep things running smoothly when the café gets busy.
You’ll work closely with our Café Manager, helping to lead the team, oversee day-to-day service, maintain high standards and make sure every customer receives a warm welcome.
If you have experience in a café, restaurant, farm shop or similar environment, and you’re a natural leader who’s happy to roll up your sleeves, we’d love to hear from you.
