Running through the sunflowers
This summer the sunflower field at Rougham Estate is the setting for something a little different. Run Vibes brings their relaxed and sociable 5k trail run to the Estate, taking runners through the sunflower fields, along paths and out into the surrounding Suffolk countryside.
The run is open to all abilities and all paces, whether you cover the route in 18 minutes or an hour, you’re equally welcome here.
The run sets off at 6.30pm, but arrive from 5.30pm to settle in and soak up the atmosphere. After the run, the real magic begins. The Roots&Co Kiosk at the sunflower field will be serving freshly prepared bagels, drinks will be flowing and Solis DJs will be spinning chilled music as the sun sets over the sunflowers. It’s the kind of evening that’s as much about the people and the place as it is about the running.
Spaces are limited, so if an evening of good company, great food and a gentle run through one of Suffolk’s most beautiful summer landscapes sounds like your kind of thing, don’t leave it too long to book.

Please don’t worry if you’re running late – you can join the run later on as we’ll have extra runners as well and the route will be signposted.

Afterwards, unwind with freshly prepared bagels from Roots&Co, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks.
Discounted food prices are available when pre-ordering. Additional bagels may be available on the night at full price.

On arriving at the Sunflower and Pumpkin Field you will be directed by a member of staff to park; there is ample parking on grass.
The sunflowers and pumpkins are in a new field for 2026
The field is just east of Bury St. Edmunds, easily accessible from the A14 and clearly sign-posted from Junction 45.
From J45, A14 Eastbound Carriageway:
- turn left (first exit) on the roundabout at the end of the A14 slip road
- go under the A14 bridge
- at the T junction turn right, by the white house and entrance to Blackthorpe Barn
- follow this lane for about half a mile until you reach Elderstub Lane on the left
- turn left down Elderstub Lane and the entrance is about 150yds on the right
From the J45, A14 Westbound Carriageway:
- turn right at the end of the A14 slip road
- at the T junction turn right, by the white house and entrance to Blackthorpe Barn
- follow this lane for about half a mile until you reach Elderstub Lane on the left
- turn left down Elderstub Lane and the entrance is about 150yds on the right

Autumn brings plenty of seasonal ingredients that are perfect for preserving, pickling and fermenting.
Chef Rowen Halstead returns with his popular for a hands-on fermentation workshop at Rougham Estate on Saturday 31 October, where you’ll learn new techniques and create two seasonal ferments to take home: spiced pumpkin sauerkraut and orchard fruit kombucha chutney.
If you’ve joined us for one of our previous fermentation workshops, you’ll be pleased to know this is a new workshop with new techniques. Each session uses different seasonal ingredients and explores new recipes and techniques, so there’s always something new to discover.
It’s suitable for beginners and those with a little more experience, with plenty of practical guidance along the way.

What if your dreams are trying to tell you something?
On Saturday 7th November, join psychotherapist Gilly Crow for Wake Up to Your Dreams, an interactive talk exploring why our dreams can be so intriguing and what they might tell us about ourselves.
Gilly has spent more than 35 years working as a psychotherapist in the Suffolk countryside, with dreams at the heart of much of her work. Her approach is not about trying to find a neat meaning for every dream, but about exploring what our dreams might reveal and why they can be meaningful.
Whether you have recurring dreams, are curious about your unconscious or simply wonder why we dream at all, this promises to be a fascinating morning.

There’s definitely an autumn feel to this week’s specials at Roots Café.
Brunch special: Rougham Estate apple and strawberry crumble with a coconut granola topping and crème anglaise.
Or our soup of the week: Cream of Rougham pumpkin soup, served with garlic croutons and dukkah spice, alongside friendly loaf bread.
Pop in after a walk around the Estate and warm up with something delicious.

The wait is over - Rougham Pumpkins opens today 🎉🎃 Just look at all these pumpkins on this year’s field!
Thousands upon thousands of pumpkins, squashes and gourds are waiting for you to pick them. Prices range from 75p to £10.
If you find the GOLDEN pumpkin hidden on the field, you win one wheelbarrow of pumpkins for free!
The patch is open 9am-5pm each weekend in October, and until 9pm on Saturdays 17th and 24th, and then daily from 24th to 31st.
There’s plenty of room to play and wander, enjoy games and photo-ops and food, glorious food!

There’s something rather lovely about autumn leaves when they first start to turn.
On Saturday 10 October, the Canvas Club returns to Rougham Estate for an afternoon of painting inspired by the colours of the season.
Artist Sarah Rawlinson will guide you step by step as you create your own autumn leaves painting using acrylics. No previous painting experience is needed, and everything you need is provided, including your canvas, paints and brushes.
It’s a relaxed, social afternoon, with tea, coffee and sweet treats included. And, of course, you get to take your finished artwork home with you.
