Meet Dee Barnes

Dee is a ceramic artist based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, working from her garden studio where she spends her days creating distinctive hand-built pieces. She specialises in traditional techniques including coiling and slab work and works primarily with earthenware clay, enriching her surfaces with underglazes, lustres and oxides to achieve her rich and decorative results.

Dee’s work draws on an eclectic range of influences, from the intricate patterns of 18th-century pottery to the elegant forms of Sèvres French porcelain and her ever-growing collection of Staffordshire figurines. Each piece is one of a kind, highly decorated yet fully functional, shaped by the daily inspiration she finds in the world around her.

At the heart of Dee’s practice is a deeply personal vision: ceramics that transport you to a utopian world of meadows, majestic animals and sun-drenched abundance. It is a world free of conflict and filled only with joy.
