This small bench began life as part of a mighty oak tree that once stood elsewhere on the Rougham Estate.

When the tree eventually fell, it was carefully set aside with the idea that its story could continue in a new form.

Rather than being lost, the log has been thoughtfully carved into a simple wooden bench, an understated piece that celebrates the natural beauty and strength of oak. The shape and texture of the wood have been preserved to honour its origins and character.

Now placed in front of Blackthorpe Barn, the bench offers a peaceful spot for visitors to pause and enjoy the view. It’s a quiet reminder of the Estate’s connection to the land, inviting you to sit for a moment and take it all in.

Don’t miss going to see the oak tree trunk sculpture to the side of the Barn too.
