Here at Rougham Estate we are heavily vested in trialling new technology and crop production systems in conjunction with many major companies such as Syngenta, Bayer, Omex, Ryvita and the British Beet Research Organisation.
Last week we had a hi-tech visitor to the farm in conjunction with Syngenta. This machine is a camera-controlled spot-sprayer capable of spraying a 6cm x 6cm area with 156 individual nozzles across a 6m working width at 7kph!
Using the onboard cameras, this machine can spot the difference between the individual Sugar Beet plants and weeds, allowing for only the weeds to be sprayed with very high precision.
This modern technology allows all pesticides to be used with ultra high precision, along with a significant reduction in their usage, both of which are very beneficial for the wider farm environment for which we take great pride in improving across the Estate.
