ABOUT THE Garden Room
If you enjoy coming to the Christmas shop in autumn, then you’ll love the Garden Room for the remaining seasons! This smaller shop, adjacent to Roots Café, offers an eclectic selection where each item is chosen to enhance your living space without compromising your commitment to the environment.
The shop carries an assortment of dried flowers and seeds, vases made from glass, stone and ceramics, along with supplies for flower arranging. Additionally, you’ll discover exquisite candles, candlesticks and chandeliers that can help you create a delightful atmosphere at home as well as gardening accessories, treats for your dog and toys for children.

Muddy Stilettos Regional Award Winner
What an honour to have been voted the 2024 Regional Muddy Stilettos Winner for the Best Lifestyle Store in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire!
Thank you to each one who voted for us – it made our year, especially considering we had only just opened the Garden Room a few months before.
If you haven’t been to visit yet, here’s a good reason to come by!!
Bringing the outside in
A curated selection of lifestyle items and other delights, with a focus on sustainability and beauty.
Enjoy themed areas such as the conservatory, potting shed, rustic room, kitchen garden and more; you’ll find plenty to encourage your creativity and lovely pieces to give as gifts. Beyond décor items, the Garden Room also features household and garden essentials like small tools, aprons, tea towels, well-being products such as handmade soaps and bath oils as well as cards and gift wrap.

You are welcome to pay by card in the Garden Room shop, but we are not taking cash here.
We are doing our best to source our offerings from reputable sources and known origins, knowing many of our suppliers personally.
Most of our stock is made from glass, stone, ceramic and metal, avoiding plastic as much as possible.
We are aiming to offer a curated selection of beautiful lifestyle items with a focus on sustainability and beauty.
Yes, dogs are welcome in the shop with paws on the floor.
We sell doggie treats which are locally made and other doggie items too.

The beauty care products are mostly made by a small artisan husband and wife business in Yorkshire whom we have met personally.
There will be cards, giftwrap and bags from a British designer whom we recently met and hand soap from another artisan maker from Somerset.
We will soon be stocking handmade hearts created from twigs and dried flowers created here in our own shop.
We are building up the shop month by month with new suppliers coming on board all the time.
The Garden Room shop is set out in part of the Christmas shop. We are busy working behind the scenes to set up the well-loved Christmas shop for the coming year and come October, it will be opening again.

Grab a bite of lunch
Just next door to the Garden Room Shop is Roots Café, serving breakfasts, lunches and coffee and cake, using tasty locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible.

Enjoy a wander
This year we are expanding the number of walks starting from Blackthorpe Barn, with Rougham Estate offering 18 miles of public footpaths and popular cycling routes, alongside additional permissive paths. Coupled with the café and the shop, this creates a superb destination for a relaxing day out in the Suffolk countryside and to enjoy the changing seasons.

If you’ve been to the Estate you will know we have lots of woodland with a remarkable collection of ancient and veteran oak and lime trees.
Many of these trees are hollow, with branches reaching down to the ground, showcasing their impressive age. They play a crucial role as habitats for thousands of species.
Currently, we’re conducting a survey to explore the diverse wildlife that inhabits these trees, including those near Blackthorpe Barn. We look forward to sharing the results with you this autumn! So watch this space!

Well, that didn’t take too long… we said the pumpkins could do with a drink, and overnight we had 5mm of rain! Not quite a soaking, but after such a dry stretch, we’ll take what we can get.
It’s come at just the right time to help the freshly planted pumpkins settle in. A bit more over the next week or so wouldn’t go amiss – fingers crossed the raindance keeps working (and only at night 😊).
Meanwhile, the rest of the crops on the estate will be soaking up the rain and moving along nicely now, including the Sunken Garden.
Let’s keep doing the raindance for a little bit longer!

Pumpkin season prep has officially begun!
We’ve just started planting the pumpkin seeds for our ever-popular October patch, and we’re already looking forward to seeing the field full of colour later this year to welcome families for a pumpkin extravaganza!
As much as we hate to say it, but fingers crossed for a bit of rain to help them establish.
We’ll keep you posted on their progress, but for now it’s all about patience, sunshine… and a few well-timed showers.
Roll on autumn!
