Today marks the beginning of the 2025 pumpkin-growing season!

The secret is all in the preparation, but be warned – it’s a dirty, smelly job!

We are busy spreading pig muck from the pigs that are kept on the Estate, onto the ground where we will be growing this year’s pumpkins.

It may be a smelly, messy job, but it’s packed full of goodness. The pig muck is full of nutrition and, as well as improving the soil to help our pumpkins grow big, juicy and healthy, it means we don’t use any artificial fertiliser.

Now it’s “fingers crossed” for some good weather ahead, for a great growing season!
