MEET Helen Maxfield

Helen is a Suffolk-based printmaker working primarily in lino. Her designs are bold, lively and colourful using the ‘reduction method’ where ink is applied in layers and further lino is carved away in between printing.

Helen’s designs evolve from observational drawings and photos from trips out in the East Anglian countryside and coastline. She enjoys looking for textures in the landscape and devising ways to render them through linocut. She aims to achieve images that celebrate both the beauty of the place and the natural qualities of linocut.
