Exhibition of Quilts
Come and see this wonderful Big 24 Exhibition, a celebration of the fantastic work by quilters throughout East Anglia, including members of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles.
The exhibition will be officially opened by The Quilters Guild President, Sheila Evans, on Friday 26th April, with over 90 individual quilts being shown from members of Region 8 of The Quilters Guild and 19 of its Affiliated Groups within Essex and Suffolk.
Visitors have the opportunity to get involved and vote for their favourite quilt in the “Visitors’ Choice” competition and to enter a daily Sewing Themed Tombola, Handmade Bag Auction and Raffle, with tickets £1 each (cash only please).
The Exhibition Competition theme is “8” and has over 30 entries of A3 size quilts, which will be on display in the entrance area and will be judged by Sheila.
Special Exhibitions
There will also be a showcase of the work of former Region 8 committee member Helen Vivian: “A Lifetime in Quilting”, and a chance to see the wonderful Denman Quilt made by members of the Federation of Essex WIs depicting special places of Essex.

Just a little reminder we always look forward to…
Watson Plants are back at Rougham Estate this Saturday 16th May – Sunday 17th May, and then every other weekend going forward.
It’s a lovely excuse to have a wander and see what’s in, with a really nice mix of seasonal plants, herbs and those easy wins that instantly lift a garden or a few pots at home.
It’s relaxed, a bit of a browse-and-chat kind of setup, and you’ll very likely leave with something you hadn’t planned on (in the best way), or take home some good advice from the very knowledgable Chris who is always willing to help with plant information.
If you’re here at the Estate, do make time to pop over and have a look.

Bring the dog, the kids, pull on your walking boots and enjoy some fresh air, peaceful views and a slower pace of life.
You can find the range of walks for all abilities on our website and choose which one you’d prefer to explore. Each walk webpage includes a map and a description of the walk, with most of the walks also including a real-time video of George Agnew guiding you along the path.

This May we’re delighted to be welcoming back three talented Suffolk-based artists to Rougham Estate. Cyndi Speer, Carol Pask and J. “Mac” McCaughan are returning with a beautiful exhibition of new paintings, ceramics, textiles and metalwork.
Cyndi brings her dreamlike oil paintings, including the use of metallic leaf or spray paint, with each one rooted in a deep love of the natural world as well as embracing colour, contour and movement.
Carol presents her striking sculptural, smoke-fired ceramics alongside her Land-to-Cloth textile range, which includes hand-dyed and hand-knitted wool accessories made from native British sheep breeds.
Mac is exhibiting his beautifully crafted metalwork, blending traditional blacksmithing with contemporary design, creating elegant, storied pieces with forged steel.
This show has something for everyone.
