Now that the weather is starting to improve…

Work on the farm is beginning to really kick off now, with fertiliser spreading, cultivating the soil and planting our spring crops.

Here we are planting a crop of SY Tennyson spring malting barley which, once harvested in August, will hopefully go to one of the local Maltings to be turned into malt and then go on to make beer.

We have added an extra set of tyres to this tractor to help spread the weight of the tractor, providing extra grip and helping to protect the soil.

There are about 80 hectares (roughly 200 acres) of spring barley to plant this spring.

Next on the planting list is sugar beet in about a week or so, as long as the weather stays good 🤞🏻
