Arts and Crafts 2024
The fifth and last Arts&Crafts weekend at Blackthorpe Barn is only a few days away and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Rougham Estate.
Information for Week 5
Set-up
The Blackthorpe Barn will be open from 10am – 4pm on Friday for setting up and from 8am on Saturday morning. By 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, stalls should be ready for the public, with all bags and packaging hidden under the tables.
The big double doors in the thatched Barn will be open on Friday but will not be open on Saturday morning.
Each table has a red tablecloth that hangs to the floor. You are welcome to bring your own table-top covering to cover the top surface, but please do not cover the red cloth hanging down in front of the table.
Space is tight, so do not assume there is any extra space at the side of your table(s) for any stands or displays and please keep packaging to a minimum, so that it is well hidden from view.
The car park around the Barn will be very busy every day with visitors to the Christmas Shop and Roots Café, from 9am. You can park close to the Barn to unload as much as possible and then please move your vehicle to the larger car park further away (on Friday), while you set up, always clearly displaying your Exhibitor’s Parking Permit on your dashboard. Please don’t park in any disabled parking space at any time.
Car Parking
On Saturday and Sunday please clear the main Car Park 1, next to the Barn, by moving your vehicle away by 9am and moving it to the roadway beyond the overflow Car Parks 2 and 3, alongside the Christmas Tree Plantation, as shown on the map below.
Drive to the end of the road by the bridge, where there is plenty of room to turn around and then please park facing the Barn, on the right-hand side of the roadway.
Please park with two wheels on the hard road and two wheels on the grass. Only park on one side of the road.
Makers with vans should continue to park at the far end of Car Park 2 in the wider spaces.
Makers with blue badges should continue to park in Car Park 1, in front of the Barn.
Please display your Exhibitor’s Parking Permit clearly on the car dashboard inside the vehicle. Please write your name where indicated. If you don’t have a permit, please ask Katie for a spare one.
The weekend
The medieval thatched Barn is beautiful but can be chilly at times, depending on the weather, despite the heating. Do bring some extra layers with you – it’s easier to take them off rather than being cold during the day.
Please keep fire exits clear at all times. Any covers you might want to use overnight must be fireproof and not plastic, or any material that could burn should a light be left on, for example.
The black take-away hut in the courtyard area will be serving take-away teas, coffees and snacks, which are also available to exhibitors, and avoids a wait at Roots Café.
At the end of the weekend, on Sunday, please do not pack anything away before the 4pm closing time, when the public leaves.
See you soon!
Last week’s event was fabulous, despite the storm, and it’s great to see the Barn full of amazing arts and crafts again. We are very pleased that you are part of the 2024 event. We look forward to seeing you here on Friday 13th for setting up, and on Saturday and Sunday (14th/15th December) for the main event.
Social Media
Don’t forget to tag us @roughamestate on any pictures of your preparations and we will repost as many as we can as stories on Instagram. We will also tag you in posts, if at all possible; do watch the reels (videos) a few times, if possible, and comment and repost – it all helps to push all our social media posts out to more people.

If you have any further questions, please email Katie (event co-organiser) on kt.millard@btinternet.com , who will be at the Barn on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and/or Amie and Inga on hello@roughamestate.com about any administration or website questions.
