Just in time for Halloween, Rougham Estate will have a beautiful field full of thousands of pumpkins, in twelve different varieties and many sizes, just waiting to be picked.

Positioned beyond an ancient wood on Rougham Estate, the aptly named Rougham Pumpkin Patch will be a sea of orange, and other colours, showing amazing varieties, allowing visitors to grab a wheelbarrow and choose their perfect pumpkins to carve into spooky faces or scary scenes this Halloween. There will be plenty more to enjoy too with a sandpit and games for the family such as ‘Corn Hole’ and ‘Noughts and Crosses’ using baby pumpkins. There will also be lots of special selfie opportunities such as the Rougham Estate Scarecrow. For refreshments why not enjoy superb coffee, toasties, cakes and a choice of ice creams.

The entrance is very near to Blackthorpe Barn, directly opposite the entrance to Ravenwood Hall Hotel, Sow Lane, Rougham, just off junction 45 of A14, east of Bury St Edmunds.

From eastbound carriageway (from Cambridge towards Ipswich). Exit junction 45, turn left at the roundabout at end of the slip road. Drive under the bridge and turn right 400m at end of a small wood.

Your visit
When you come to visit the pumpkin patch you will drive up beside an ancient wood to reach the field at the far end. There will also be overflow parking if required.

Car parking and admission are free. There is no need to book.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome to come and visit the picnic area on the grass area but not within the pumpkin patch and must be kept on a short lead at all times. Don’t forget to bring poo-bags, which must be used when required, and to take any waste away with you.

This is a family-friendly location and we are expecting many families with small children, who need to be and feel safe here. Dogs can be intimidating to people not used to them.

Facilities and attractions
By the side of the marquee, there is a large pyramid built from straw bales, to climb up and also a large gold frame, which is perfect for taking family photos and selfies.

For small children, a small sandpit has been provided to keep them entertained.

There are toilet facilities in the field as well as accessible toilet and baby changing facilities. These are also available at Blackthorpe Barn during half-term week, a short walk or drive away.

Share your images with us
The pumpkin field is full of selfie opportunities: a brilliant day out like this needs to be shared! We love seeing all your gorgeous pictures of your visits to the pumpkins. Do continue to share your images on social media.

There will be a choice of picnic spots with benches and a grassy area, so bring along your blanket and hamper for a lovely day out. There will also be catering on offer each day. Finally, if your day is not complete without ice cream, then this will be available too from our fabulous ice stall!

As an alternative, from 25 October,  you can visit the nearby Courtyard Café at Blackthorpe Barn, a short walk from the field, from 10 am – 4 pm, where there is a wide range of savoury and sweet delights to tempt your palate and which can spice up your picnic.

Picking your pumpkins
You will be able to pick your own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch using our special wheelbarrows. All the pumpkins will have been cut in advance and left to mature just where they grew, so just wander around and marvel at the choice, popping pumpkins in your barrow as you go round. When you are done and ready to leave, head for the marquee where our helpful staff will measure and price your pumpkins. The pumpkins will be measured by passing them through a special measuring board, which will have holes cut through it. The larger the hole needed to let the pumpkin pass through, the higher the cost. Payment will be by card or cash. Payment will be made in the marquee near where the refreshments can also be found.

Pumpkins are charged between £1 – £6
Payment is entirely cashless so please remember to bring your card. Payment is taken from the entrance area to the pumpkins.

Leaving the pumpkin patch
We are operating a one-way system for all visitors arriving by car, so look out for the exit signs which will guide you back onto the public road. Your return route to the A14 will be clearly signed and is very short.

Professional Photography and Drone Flights

We are happy to encourage professional photographers to use our wonderful pumpkin patch for photoshoots, including drone operators.

For the comfort and safety of all our visitors, and considering the fact that the pumpkin patch is part of Rougham Estate which is private land, all professional, commercial, for-profit or paid-for photoshoots must be pre-booked and authorised by Rougham Estate and may be subject to a fee. This includes all drone flights, whether commercial or not.

Rougham Estate must be credited on all professional/commercial images sold or used for social media.

Unauthorised professional/commercial photographers or photoshoots, or drone operators, may be asked to leave or stop, as determined by Rougham Estate staff.
