Weather on the Estate 2020
As 2020 draws to a close it is typically a time that we as farmers look back at the weather and how it has impacted
As part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme we limit the amount of fertiliser that is applied to the grass and keep the stocking density low to allow wild flowers and grasses to seed and allow the biodiversity of the pasture to increase. This creates an important habitat for a wide range of species and complements the conservation work we do on the arable land and within the woodlands.
Over the years we have worked extensively to recreate natural dips and lows and restored ponds in some of our permanent pasture to create wetland habitats to further diversify our grassland species and create habitats for amphibians.
The majority of our permanent pasture is rented by two grazing tenants. Both sell meat from Rougham direct to the public.
